"Orson, How's Max?" Orson Bean and Bud Collyer on "To Tell the Truth" (Daytime), Fall 1966
Переглядів 960Рік тому
On the CBS daytime run of "To Tell the Truth" there was a cute running gag between Bud Collyer and Orson Bean that went on for a few weeks in late 1966. Orson's son Max was born around October and Orson missed a few episodes one week because of that. For weeks afterward Bud would ask Orson "How's the baby?" and Orson would reply with a joke. I've edited together all the ones I have into a video...

Password (March 20th, 1962): The letter "R" falls off
Переглядів 3,3 тис.7 років тому
The letter "R" falls off the "Password" sign in this segment from a 1962 episode of the Goodson-Todman game show with host Allen Ludden and celebrity players Betsy Palmer and Peter Lind Hayes. Throughout the program you can see the "R" slipping more and more out of position. This is just the dénouement. You can see the sad and slipping "R" here just before the game starts, and then it falls (of...

I first listened to this recording many years ago now, in a moment lost. It has raised me up and crushed me succinctly in equal measure ever since.
"To Tell The Truth " was hosted by Bud Collyer during it's network run on CBS. This episode featured the classic panel lineup of Kitty Carlisle, Tom Poston, Orson Bean and Peggy Cass.
But what was the question?!
I wonder how many people today would realize how much No. 2 actually looked like Nikita Khruschev.
I'm surprised that Kitty Carlisle didn't already know Marni Nixon considering Carlisle was an old Broadway and Hollywood singer herself.
❤
I didn't like that warbling effect she had. Good song though by different performers. I felt the same about Bob Dylan as a performer though Dylan was on a whole nother level than Buffy St Marie. "Until its Time to Go" was very good by Elvis

Love how Linda's voice is like a train that pushes the song along.....wow. jealous of everyone who saw this live...
Intriguing show, and the only wrong guess was a good one never the less! Very nice song Buffy, I remember the multi-talented Bobby Darin singing it on his last great album 'If I Were A Carpenter'
Beautiful but a tad sad😢. Just lovely…..❤
Empire today

5:54 who knows about that little part? I need to know more about that.
They influenced so many others!
These days were just grand, weren't they?
Cathy is still my style icon. And WOW! I didn't know maxis were out in 1964.
Judy Lewis' biological father was Clark Gable, which she did not find out about until 1958 (the same years as this episode.) This was not made public until 1966, when her mother (Loretta Young) finally admitted to it when confronted by Lewis.
Nice....🙂😊
Did Jean actually wear his hockey pants backwards or did the other two?
Still have my original album. If only we could laugh like that today. Well, maybe someday!

So beautiful ! Sweet little village !
I used to work at The Town Pump in Vancouver back in '94. Much Music hosted some band one night, so Terry David Mulligan and Natalie Richard were there. Natalie spent most of the night downstairs doing coke. 😋
Kate's death marked the beginning of the disintegration of the world. Afterwards, everyone we counted on to be in our lives began disappearing one by one.
That's great. I think I'd have asked them to say something in "Special English".
I love hearing this song sung in Quebec French.
Would those magnificent eyes of Linda not melt your heart
Fantastic!😁
The combined age of the four panelists at their deaths is in the high 300s!

I’ve loved the Magarrigles since the 70’s. I first heard them when I was living in Dublin and was pretty homesick.
excellent song... excellent singer... maria muldaur.... thank you!
I don't care if the trick is good or not. All of these people are more pleasant to look at and listen to than today's celebrities on TV. 😊❤

Very proud of our Uncle Wade. He was a perfectionist, not prolific, but every song was a gem. And he was a kind and thoughtful uncle, I treasure the time we spent together.

I heard Kate and Anna sing this song one night at Cafe Lena. It was magical. What singers, what performers. Exquisite!
